GeoTrust Code Signing Credentials™ for Windows Mobile Enrollment
In order to purchase Code Signing Credentials™ for Windows Mobile, you must complete the enrollment process described below. Once you have completed enrollment you will have your new certificate to submit signed applications for re-signing.
Step 1: Enroll for Code Signing Credentials for Windows Mobile
- On the Code Signing Credentials for Windows Mobile home page or from this page, click Buy Now
- Complete and submit the enrollment form to GeoTrust.
Step 2: Complete Identity Verification Process
GeoTrust will verify the identity of the business entity applying. Your organization must meet certain "proof of existence" requirements, and must also select an individual as the recipient of your Smartphone ISV Certificate. Additionally, we will verify the identity of the developer and that he/she is an authorized recipient.
In addition to the information you provide during the on-line enrollment process, you will be asked to fax additional documents to GeoTrust. Click here for a list of those documents.
Step 3: Apply for access to carrier-specific singing services
GeoTrust supports Microsoft Mobile2Market Privileged and Normal signing services, as well Nextel-Sprint Privileged signing services. By default all developers will have access to Microsoft Normal signing service upon enrollment. If this is the only signing service you will need, no further action is required and you can begin using the signing portal to sign your applications. If you require access to additional signing services offered by GeoTrust you must follow the instructions below.
Signing for the Microsoft Mobile2Market Program:
Developers participating in the Microsoft Mobile2Market program can get their applications signed by both the Microsoft Normal and Privileged signing services. Normal signing is available for all developers through the signing portal by default. To access the MS Windows Mobile for Smartphone Privileged signing, you need to get pre-authorized by Microsoft after meeting certain Technology Requirements. Please contact your Microsoft Mobile2Market contact or send an e-mail to M2M@microsoft.com for details and to get authorized for access to the MS Privileged root. More details on operator support for Mobile2Market privileged signing is available here.
Signing your applications with Nextel-Sprint privileged certificates:
To sign your applications with the Nextel-Sprint privileged signing service, you must contact Nextel-Sprint and have them authorize GeoTrust to grant you access to the Nextel-Sprint Privileged root. Please note that you must have a valid SmartPhone Credential before GeoTrust can provide you access. Providing access is a simple step. Typically, GeoTrust provides access to the Nextel-Sprint Privileged root within 1 business day of receiving the authorization from Nextel-Sprint. To contact Nextel-Sprint about gaining access to this signing service send an email to nextel@custhelp.com.

Step 4: Receive and install your USB hardware token
Upon completing the identity verification process you will receive an email that your Code Signing Credentials for Windows Mobile service setup is completed.
You will also receive a package via postal mail which contains the following:
- One (1) USB token device that you'll use to install your Windows Mobile code signing and access credential
- Documentation/Utilities to use USB Token with your Windows Mobile Code Signing Credentials
- Instructions on how to pick up your Windows Mobile Administrator Certificate and install the drivers
GeoTrust also provides a step-by-step user guide that you can download.
Step 5: Access the Code Signing Credentials for Windows Mobile signing portal to sign your files
- GeoTrust will provide you with a URL and instructions to access the signing portal. By default, you will have access to the Microsoft Mobile2Market (M2M) Normal Root signing. In addition, if you have been authorized to access either Microsoft M2M Privileged and/or the Nextel-Sprint siging services you will also see these signers available to you in the drop down list within the signing portal.
- Sign your files / code using the SmartPhone Administrator Certificate. Then, upload your signed files to get them re-signed by GeoTrust. Select the signer you want in the menu within the signing portal. Depending on what access rights you have, you will see all available signers. Select the type of signature you want and then upload your file. The re-signing process is fully automated and real time. As soon as the files are signed by the GeoTrust’s SmartPhone signing service, you may download them for distribution. More information is available in our User Guide and in our FAQs.
