In certain cases, you may need a PFX (.pfx) file containing your certificate and private key to use on a separate system. GeoTrust AutoInstall SSL offers an export function to meet this requirement.
A Few Words of Caution
- A PFX file should be stored securely because it contains your private key
- Keep in mind that you’ll need to re-export and re-install a new PFX anytime GeoTrust AutoInstall SSL updates your certificate (e.g., before your certificate’s expiration date)
How to Export a PFX Certificate
To export the .pfx file for the certificate installed by GeoTrust AutoInstall SSL, please follow the steps below:
- Open Windows Command Prompt (CMD) or Linux server terminal and run one of the following commands:
- sudo runautoinstallssl.sh (For Linux)
- autoInstallSSL.exe (for Windows)
- Select the third option (Get Help) and press Enter on your keyboard.
- Choose the Get PFX Password option and press Enter again.
- Select the domain name and press Enter.
- You will then see the PFX file path and password displayed on the screen.
