Setting Up Your Internal Agent

Whether you choose to allow GeoTrust Vulnerability Manager to perform an internal scan only or allow it to carry out internal and external scans, the internal agent must be installed on your asset to generate internal scan results.   To install the internal agent:

  1. Navigate to the IP asset page associated with your GeoTrust Vulnerability Manager subscription.
  2. On the IP asset page, click on the View Report button found within the Vulnerability Manager module in the GeoTrust Horizon platform
  3. You are now on the Vulnerability Manager dashboard for that asset. At the top of the page, you will see a notification with an Install Now link.
  4. Clicking Install Now takes you to the installation instructions page for that asset. See the screenshot below for an example of what you will see:
  5. After selecting the relevant installation instructions for your system, you will be taken to a setup page like the one below. This page is specific to your asset and the server type you selected.
  6. Follow the 2-step process for your server’s operating system (Windows Server/IIS or Linux). This two-step process is specific to the asset you purchased Vulnerability Manager for and cannot be used with other assets.

Tip: The agent automatically registers with your account and will starts scanning. Once the first results are ready, the notification to install the agent will no longer show on your account and the results will be displayed in the full report.
